Autumn beginners' course dates announced for Greenwich dojo

This Autumn we will be running two beginners’ courses:
Saturdays: 18th September to 30th October, 9:30am – 11:00 am
and
Tuesdays:  21st September to 2nd November : 7:30pm to 9:30 pm

Location: Greenwich Dojo. St. Marks Methodist Church & Centre, 22 Greenwich South Street, London, SE10 8TY. View Map
Duration: 6 Weeks
Cost:  £60 (£50 for students or the unemployed). Costs include insurance and Shodokan UK membership (usually £25).

ATS & Dan Grade Training @ Greenwich on Saturday 14th August

Instructor: Dave Findlay, 3rd Dan
Time: 12pm – 3pm (please arrive a bit earlier to register).
Venue: Greenwich – St Marks Methodist Church, 22 Greenwich South Street, London SE10 8TY
(side street entrance on Ashburnham Place)

Cost: £10 per person

Training Insurance: Everyone training must have valid BAB Insurance, please bring your certificate for proof, otherwise cover can be purchased on the day.

These sessions are at a higher fitness level that you would normally have in a class with a fair bit of randori, so expect a good work-out!!  Only graded students can attend this session.

Aikido Randori - by Tetsuro Nariyama

Tetsuro Nariyama is the Chief Technical Director of the Japan Aikido Association (JAA). This new book (Available from mid July) describes the practice Aikido Randori, from the basics to application, along with an explanation of the underlying principles and a clarification of the historical and theoretical foundations of competitive aikido.

The result is a detailed work of reference that will not only benefit your randori practice but will improve your level of kata and give you a deeper insight into aikido in general.

Goshin No Kata Seminar

This video shows all 50 techniques of the Goshin No Kata. Demonstrated by Omori Sensei, Sakai Sensei, and Masa Abe.

Scott will cover all 50 of the goshin no kata with the emphasis being on drilling each technique, including weapons suburi work.

Nariyama Shihan, 8th Dan teaching in Europe this year.

Nariyama Shihan, 8th Dan and technical director of the Japan Aikido Association will be teaching at two courses in Europe this summer.

The first is at the BAA Summer school in Sheffield, held from Thursday 29 July to Sunday 1 August. You can download more information and a booking form here.

He will also be training at the Shodokan club in Malaga (Spain) on Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd August. More information can be found here.
